The effect of melatonin is to make you sleepy, and the secretion of melatonin is probably the body's most important mechanism for making us sleepy. The secretion of melatonin varies during the day and is affected by the light/dark level.

Recommended dose is one capsule. The timing of melatonin intake is important. The dose should be taken at bedtime (local time). Intake of food is not recommended 2 hours before or 2 hours after planned intake of melatonin. The tablets should be swallowed with a glass of water.
